Wakefield Autism Leisure Club

THANK YOU!

We gratefully received a share of the Co-op members 1% community award and we were absolutely blown away when we received a call from the Co-op in Woodlesford to say we had been awarded £5092.

Great things happen in our community and the shoppers of the Co-op really showed their support for our club. We used the money to help support the training of our club members in sports such as swimming, football and indoor bowls .

Trustee Claire Stephenson attended the National Games as the Yorkshire & Humberside Families Coordinator and needed help funding her place on the team. Morrisons regional distribution centre at Carr Gate kindly donated £100 towards her cause. Morrisons support the Autism Club on a regular basis and we really appreciated their support for this important role.

SUPPORT FROM NATIONAL CITIZENSHIP SERVICE

The National Citizenship Service worked with us to raise much needed funds for the club and helped our Special Olympic athletes to kick start their fundraising journey to the games. They organised a sponsored walk for us with a bit of a difference. They mapped out a walk which involved mini games which all our participants enjoyed. The young people of NCS also organised a raffle for us and donated the proceeds to the club and to Special Olympics. As you can see from the photographs we had great weather.
